Diabetes if left unmonitored may result to a lot of complications especially to patients who are suffering this condition for a very long period of time.  One of its complications is the development of a Charcot’s foot. Several patients who are suffering with diabetes can go on and develop damage to their nerves which makes them difficult to feel. So in other words the foot becomes numb. Imagine what happens if they were to twist their foot and sprain the ankle. For most people normally it really hurts. But to those with the sensory nerve damage in diabetes, they do not feel the pain, so they continue walking on it. Can you imagine what happens if you keep walking on sprained ankle or a fracture of a foot bone? This is what is called a charcot’s foot and a lot of damage gets done.
