The “Staircase Balustrades” refers to the Handrail, Newel Posts and Spindles of a staircase. Newel Posts tend to be at the beginning and end of a staircase; with a few additional posts in between if the staircase has turns to it, in order to support the handrail. Vertical or horizontal smaller posts that run from the handrail to the treads are the “Spindles”. The large, solid section that runs along each tread connected together is the “Stringer”. Cantilevered stairs may only have one or no stringers at all. The turn of the staircase are made by the “Winders” that turns 20-30 degrees. More technical ideas are available for your staircase but know that you have been given dimensions and few terms that are seen above, no more daunting obstacle but a simple task.
