I am in the process of shopping for new kitchen cabinets, and I was trying to find out if there is really any difference between the different types of wood.   It seems the two most common cabinets on the market are Maple Kitchen Cabinets and Oak cabinets.   Other than the grain patterns, is there any major difference as far as durability or ease of use?   It seems like Maple offers a greater variety of finishes.

These cabinets are for a rental unit, so I don’t need a high end cabinet, but I would like them to look nice and hold up to normal wear and tear.
