Comparing earnings is not something that employers want their employees to do. The reason for this is of course people getting upset that other people make more or less. When it comes to those who have been professionally trained for a specific job some may inquire solely to find out if they want to pursue that career. Someone who is a receptionist or clerk may want to find out about nursing aide wages to see if they want to pursue one of these jobs. No matter what the reason the best bet may be to ask a supervisor rather than a fellow coworker just to make sure each person is within company policy.
