Within 14 days after filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy, the courts will issue a notice through the mail to all the creditors you have listed.  If you wish, the creditors can actually be contacted sooner.  In case you forget to list a creditor, you can amend the list before the discharge is complete.  As long as the change is made in time, the forgotten creditor will be added and notified as well.  As far as interacting with the creditors during the process of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, this is the job of your attorney.
