You can get away with many errors when you speak a language because most people don't have a good grasp of what is right or wrong. So if you say something like "they was going to school on the early bus," some people would not catch the error. Speaking patterns develop from habits, mostly bad, that one meets when learning to speak. It even happens as you try to get good command of a new language, like Spanish, for example. So, a young boy learning to talk will acquire speech habits that those around him have. Not only will he show mannerisms that mimic his guardians and close friends, but he will also make the same grammatical errors. Perhaps this is so because we learn to speak in our maternal tongue before studying grammar.
